Hunted review

I’m always game for a new Tommy Lee Jones flick, so I was pretty excited about this movie. As I came to see, though, this was far from his best. In this film, Tommy Lee Jones is a retired employee of the federal government. He used to train people to kill, and kill well. When one of his best students comes back from a few sensitive and gruesome assignments, he gets loose from his government leesh and starts killing civilians. This leads to the obvious teacher-comes-out-of-retirement-to-hunt-the-student story. The end result is similar to Jones’s desperate search in the Fugitive. The difference is that the Fugitive had a much more complicated and intriguing story. Plot development in the Hunted is pretty weak and the movie actually plays out fairly quickly. On the plus side, there are some good survival/action scenes to be had, although the hand-to-hand fights are a bit drawn out. As much as I like Tommy Lee Jones, I’m sorry to say that there’s not a whole lot else notable about his most recent effort. I suggest waiting for rental unless you are a die-hard Tommy Lee Jones fan.
